The Magic Starts Here

What is so lovely about New York in Autumn? It’s the go back to school feeling, let’s get some work done and buy books and look at the leaves change and thank God the weather is so livable again. I find myself taking long walks around the city in places I’ve never been before… like the quaint cafes along the streets in the UES and along the alley ways between SoHo and the West Village to stop in Jacques Torres’ chocolate factory for heaps of chocolate and along the water in Williamsburg all the while looking for new product, new gift concepts.
Shanna Fisher came over this last weekend to photograph some stuff for my new “Top Secret Project”… it’s not that secret, it’s just not finished yet… all in good time (last week of November hopefully). www.GraceLockwood.com

It took until actually pulling out some holiday decorations (I know – it’s October! personal shoppers are constantly living in the future!!) to realize how much I love the holidays more in the north east than California.
And as it is the day before Halloween, I live in a city where you don’t really notice the people dressed in costumes… in NYC this could be any day of the year. Except there’s a prettier background with all of the incredible foliage.
OMG

The Gun Show, a group show of contemporary art at Space B gallery, focuses on art in the context of globalized democracy and the general Americanismus inspired by greed, the war on terrorism, and the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Within this environment of safety, via mutually assured destruction, contemporary art is born with a similar paradox to that of its considered subject—that of the artistic appropriation of iconoclasm. This show addresses questions like “How is it possible to make art that is avant-garde while living in a pluralistic society without restrictive qualifications?” Featuring:
Carole Caroompas
